What does neutering/spaying do to a pet?

Both of these procedures make it impossible for the dog or cat to procreate, and have the potential to reduce unwanted behaviours and protect your pet against a number of different potentially serious health concerns. Spaying or neutering can prevent pets from marking their territory with urine, mounting other pets and several other undesirable activities.

Why is it important to neuter/spay my pet?

Spaying or neutering your dog or cat at an appropriate age is important in order to mediate health and behavioural risks. The procedures can prevent health conditions including urinary tract infections and testicular cancer.

How old should a dog or cat be before they are neutered/spayed?

The right age for a dog to be spayed/neutered is dependent on the individual animal, but is typically between 6 and 18 months of age. We recommend to spay/neuter your kitten by the age of 6 months old and before they reach their first heat.
