Bloodwork Services

A simple method used to diagnose and treat ailments in pets.

A blood test or lab test allows us to learn information about your pet’s health, which can only be found from collecting a sample of blood and having it analyzed. This includes a CBC (complete blood count) and blood chemistries that analyze organ values.

Why is it important to perform blood tests for dogs, cats and other pets?

Routine screening bloodwork allows us to catch problems earlier, thereby often providing better prognoses. Additionally, if your pet does get sick, this bloodwork provides baseline values for comparison.

How do I interpret my dog’s/cat’s blood test results?

Our doctors will discuss in detail the analysis of any bloodwork performed and make recommendations for next steps, as required. We are happy to provide copies of lab results on request. As always, you are welcome to reach out to us if you have any questions about your pet’s test results.

How long does it take to get blood test results?

Our in-house lab completes most blood tests in less than 20 minutes. For some less common blood tests, we also use an outside laboratory.

How should I prepare my cat or my dog for their blood tests?

A plan for your pet’s visit can be discussed with one of our team members.

How often should blood tests be done?

Annual routine wellness bloodwork is recommended in all pets (especially those entering their senior years).

Does your hospital perform urinalysis and biopsy?

Yes, we also provide those services for your pet.
